Abyssal Escape Maps
Abyssal Escape launched with two maps, Don't Drown and “...”. The lobby shows which one is next. A third map is planned for the first content update (see the roadmap on the release page).
We don't use screenshots from the game or other people's videos. Everything here comes from the developer's patch notes and release-week gameplay coverage.
Chemical plant
Don't Drown
A Chemical Plant–style zone full of water, chemical liquid, springs and TVs. The tester previewing the game described it as Chemical Plant Zone renamed. Players complain about it a lot, almost always because of the water.
Hazards
- Water: you jump lower in it (lowered twice before launch), and it can kill. Survivors downed in the water are stuck where they fell.
- Chemical liquid: a pre-release bug made it constantly block stamina regeneration. That was fixed.
- Springs: they launch you around the map. Since v1.17 survivors' spring cooldowns are 1.5x longer than killers'.
As the killer
- Push survivors toward the water. A survivor downed there can't crawl away.
- As The Deity, ring traps on walkways and drops are very hard to avoid here, and Peekaboo near the water is brutal.
As a survivor
- Stay off the water's edge when you're hurt.
- Use springs to break a chase, but remember they're on a longer cooldown for you than for the killer.
Patch changes
- v1.21: much thicker ceiling.
- v1.18: collision fixes in some areas.
- Pre-release: revamped, new soundtrack, brightened, lower jump height in water.
Dark castle / dungeon maze
“...”
Yes, the map is literally called “...” (three dots). It's a long, dark, castle-like maze. The tester previewing the game called it “pretty much dot dot dot”, a nod to older Sonic.exe games. Reviewers found it very dark at launch and hard to navigate because many corridors look alike.
Hazards
- Darkness: some players make all-black survivors to blend in. The map was brightened before launch and again in v1.14.
- Long corridors and a dungeon section where it's easy to lose your bearings.
As the killer
- Furnace's Heat Radar and Fleetway's Flight are great for finding survivors hiding in the dark.
- Patrol the mist patches. Their spawn points don't change, and the maze slows survivors moving between them.
As a survivor
- Learn the route between the mist patches before you need it. Getting lost while the killer reaches Phase 3 is the most common way to die here.
- Use the darkness. The corridors give you plenty of chances to break line of sight.
Patch changes
- v1.14: made brighter.
- Pre-release: revamped, new music, collision fixes, and an abusable spot in the dungeon area fixed.
